Irakli Alasania: Georgia to join ranks of NATO Response Force
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaIn 2015 Georgia will become a member of the NATO Response Force, the country's defense minister, Irakli Alasania, said.
"We addressed the proposal to NATO and have received preliminary approval. So I think that by 2015 we will have become a part of the NATO Response Force," Trend quotes the minister.
"We meet all the requirements of the alliance, and our troops will be adequately represented in the NATO Response Force," Alasania said, stressing that it is important both from the point of view of taking on responsibility for global security and the recognition by NATO of Georgia's achievements.
It should be noted that Georgia has participated in international missions in Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. Georgia also expressed its willingness to participate in the operation in Mali.
