Turkey to electrify Turkmenistan

Çalik Enerji Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş (Turkey) will build two gas-turbine power plants in Turkmenistan to fulfill the concept for development of electricity in 2013-2020. A related order was signed by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Trend reports.

Construction of a power plant with an output of 252.2MW will start in the Ak Bugday District of the Akhal Region in July 2013 and end in December 2014. Construction of another power plant with an output of 504.4MW will start in the Dervezi District of the same region in July 2013 and end in December 2015.

Turkmenistan produces a total of 4104MW, 40% of them (1643MW) using gas-turbine generators.
