Domestic garbage dump on fire in Sochi
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaA domestic garbage dump in the village of Loo flamed up on August 4th. The fire covers 1 hectare, Yuga.ru reports, citing the head of the information and PR service of the department of the Russian Ministry of Emergencies in Sochi, Vadim Ramazanov.
There are 8 fire vehicles on the scene. The smoke spread across 12 km and is reaching the Lazarev and Central regions.
Approximately 700 tons of garbage is transported to the Loo dump daily. Closing it for recultivation would allow for the launch of a new garbage processing complex in 2012.
