Former policeman convicted of killing opposition activist Yevloyev has been killed

The former deputy head of the state protection center of the Ingush Interior Ministry, 35-year-old Ibragim Yevloyev, convicted of killing the owner of the opposition website Ingushetia.ru, Magomed Yevloyev, has been killed in a shoot-out in Nazran.

A 36-year-old policeman of the personal security department of the Interior Ministry, Beslan Albagachiyev, was injured.

Magomed Yevloyev, owner of Ingushetia.ru, was arrested at Magas airport on August 31st, 2008. According to the official version, he attempted to knock a gun out of a policeman’s hand during the arrest, causing his unintentional shooting and death.
