A fire covering approximately 4 hectares of forest has been contained on the outskirts of Tbilisi, RIA Novosti reports, citing the head of the emergency situations service of the Mayor of Tbilisi, Teymur Giorgadze.

Giorgadze clarified that the fire is on the territory behind the cemetery at the end of Jikiya Street. Currently only the emergency services are involved in putting out the fires. Giorgadze believes that the fires will be stopped in several hours.

The fire may have started because of careless firehandling. High temperatures and the weather helped the fire to spread.

The fire in Borjomi Gorge that started on July 31st has not been put out yet.
