Several hundred people gathered at Moscow's Yaroslavsky railway station this morning in order to welcome Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny, who has just returned from Kirov.

A court in Kirov had previously sentenced Navalny to five years in prison, but the authorities decided to suspend the sentence after some ten thousand people gathered in downtown Moscow to protest against what they call a political persecution.

Navalny thanked his supporters and said that he would run for mayor of Moscow as he has stated before.
