Azerbaijan marks 138th anniversary of national press

Azerbaijan is marking the 138th National Press Day today. Hasan bey Zardabi founded the Akinchi paper in the Azerbaijani language on this day in 1875.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev made a speech at the new building of journalists opened in Baku today. Ali Gasanov, head of the socio-political section of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, emphasized that the president and government praised the work of journalists and contributed to pluralism in the country.

Azerbaijani National Leader Heydar Aliyev, ophthalmologist Zarifa hanum Aliyeva and Zardabi were honoured.
