Georgian ex-minister of agriculture questioned

The Anticorruption Department of the Georgian Interior Ministry questioned ex-Minister for Agriculture David Kirvalidze about the Mekhanizator case yesterday, News Georgia reports.

The ex-minister arrived at the department after noon and returned at night after 4 hours of questioning as a witness.

Kirvalidze resigned after detention of Omar Tedoradze, head of a directorate of the Agriculture Ministry, Zaza Makharoblidze, director of the Institute for Mechanization of the Ministry, Vaja Nakhutsrishvili, director of Mekhanizator, Mamuk Ivanidze and Besik Tetvadze, his deputies, and Otar Karchava, a professor of the Agrarian University. Th group is suspected of large-scale frauds.
