The family of Mukhtar Ablyazov, chairman of the board of BTA Bank of Kazakhstan suspected of violations worth over $6 billion, may gain permission to return to Italy, RIA Novosti cites Kazakh Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov.

Ablyazov’s wife Alma Shalabayeva is currently in Alma Ata and has no permission to leave the city.

Italian Foreign Minister Emma Bonino said yesterday that presence of the Kazakh ambassador in Italy was no longer needed, as a response to the scandal over deportation of the official’s family to Kazakhstan. Bonino will make a report on the problem at the parliament on July 24.

Agelino Alfano, Italian Vice Prime Minister and Interior Minister, was about to be dismissed over the scandal.
