ANAS to publish geological encyclopedia Nakhchivan

Scholars from the Institute of Geology of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (NASA) are preparing for publication "Geological encyclopedia of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic," the Department of Public Relations of the Presidium of NASA reports.

The experts have examined all the layers of rock, ranging from the Paleozoic to the Quaternary period, determined their position, took photos of the cuts, etc. 

The preparation of the publication began in September 2012 and already before the expedition started materials on the stratigraphy, lithology, magmatism, tectonics, geomorphology of common species, minerals, surface and underground water had been prepared. During the expedition a lot of the data was clarified.

It is expected that the research and publication of the encyclopedia will be completed by the end of the current year.
