Underground security to be increased significantly in 2014

Representative of the Department of Transport Security and Special Programs of Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation Yevgeny Nochkin described the complex system of public safety in transportation, the results of the work carried out in the last three years, and future plans to develop and enhance the safety of passengers in transportation. The complex system of public safety in transport was established in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated 31 March 2010.

An integrated security system is being accomplished through integrated activities in the transport system adequate to the threat of acts of unlawful interference, including terrorism-related ones, as well as by addressing the tasks of prevention and liquidation of emergency situations of natural and man-made disasters within the framework of a unified state system of prevention and liquidation of emergency situations. The complex system is a set of measures aimed at achieving the objectives that ensure the formation, deployment, operation and development of an integrated system. It is being implemented in the framework of the priority directions of the Government of the Russian Federation for ensuring national security and is formed in the priority areas identified with the need to maximize the efficient allocation and use of financial resources to achieve the goal. The integrated system provides coordination and unification of forces and means of the federal executive bodies, executive bodies of subjects of the Russian Federation, local self-government bodies and the subjects of the transport infrastructure.
