EU ban for gun exports to Syria expires

The EU embargo on sales of weapons to Syria imposed on May 10, 2011, has expired today.

The embargo was extended by 3 months on February 18, 2013. EU foreign ministers had a meeting on May 27 and failed to find common grounds for the embargo, which expired on May 31. They agreed to make no exports of weapons to Syria until August 1.
