South Ossetia refused to include the problem of border in talks with Georgia within the framework of the meeting of the Mechanism for Prevention and Reaction to Incidents held in Ergneti (Gori District, Georgia), Res reports.

Yana Amelina, head of Caucasus studies of the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies, noted that South Ossetia’s reaction to Georgian initiatives was justified. Georgia and South Ossetia have no diplomatic relations and South Ossetia may strengthen its borders the way it likes, with the help of Russia. South Ossetia did not need Georgia’s approval of its actions, the expert noted.
