Bulgaria's Mladenov appointed as UN special representative for Iraq

Former Bulgarian foreign minister Nikolay Mladenov has been appointed as the UN Secretary General's special representative for Iraq, the United Nations says in an official statement.

Mladenov will now replace German diplomat Matrin Kobler.
