Migrants commit 8% fewer crimes than previously

In July this year, Federal Law № 207-FZ "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation in order to improve immigration legislation and the responsibility for its violation", aimed at countering illegal migration and introducing heavier penalties for offences, came into force. On August 9, the changes take effect, including those relating to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Moscow and Leningrad regions.
