Giorgi Margvelashvily becomes presidential candidate from Georgian Dream Coalition
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili has officially proposed Giorgi Margvelashvily as the presidential candidate from the ruling Georgian Dream Coalition on Monday.
"We are preparing for victory. We present a worthy representative of our society and a European-style leader as our presidential candidate," Ivanishvili said on Monday in the village of Nakalakevi in the Senaki region (Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region, Western Georgia), where he proposed the presidential candidate in the presence of 500 people, Trend reports.
The Prime Minister described Margvelashvily as a talented, independent, bold and direct intellectual, who will win in free and fair elections.
The candidate said he will fight for every vote.
The prime minister presented Margvelashvily with the pen with which he signed his application for registration in the parliamentary elections, bringing victory to his coalition. The presidential candidate signed his application for registration with the Central Electoral Commission with that pen, noting the symbolism of this action.
Presidential elections are scheduled in Georgia for October 27. The official registration of candidates will begin on September 7.
