Azerbaijan to have next WTO talks in October at best

Azerbaijan will have the next talks on joining the World Trade Organization no sooner than in October, Trend cites Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmoud Mamedguliyev today.

The previous round of talks was held in Geneva in early June 2013. Azerbaijan is having bilateral negotiations with the US, Japan, Brazil, Ecuador, Sri Lanka, EU, Norway, India, South Korea, Taiwan, Canada, Switzerland, Honduras.

The process started in 2004. Protocols have been signed with Turkey, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan. A protocol will soon be signed with Moldova.

The WTO working group for Azerbaijan was formed on July 16, 1997. Azerbaijan became a WTO observer in 1997.
