Officials of Jewish communities, rabbis, activists of youth organizations, staff of Jewish schools and nurseries will study self-defense techniques, Interfax cites Mikhail Savin, spokesman of the Russian Jewish Congress.

Instructors of the Israeli Security Ministry and Russian specialists will teach the necessary defense skills.

The idea to teach self-defense skills was proposed by President of the Russian Jewish Congress Yuri Kanner and its executive director Benny Briskin at a meeting with Israeli Minister for Internal Security Titzhak Aharonovich in Moscow. The initiative was provoked by an attack on Derbent rabbi Ovadya Isakov.
