Russian tourism companies halt ticket sales to Egypt

The Association of Russian Tourism Operators has stopped tickets sales to Egypt, RIA Novosti cites its Executive Director Maya Lomidze.

The Russian Foreign Ministry on Thursday urged Russian nationals to abstain from visits to Egypt .A state of emergency was imposed in Egypt on Wednesday.

Travel agencies started informing their clients about the need to leave 10 cities today. Some of the flights planned for 0.50 and 6.00 am were carried out.

Lomidze said that 50,000-55,000 Russian tourists remained in Egypt on August 15. 13 flights will be made today with an average of 200 passengers. About 2,500 people will return to Moscow and Saint Petersburg. There are 8-9 more cities to fly from. Two flights from Moscow and one from Saint Petersburg have been made. Over 100 people with tickets to Egypt complained about the refusal of refunds.
