Heydar Jemal, head of the Islamic Committee of Russia, said that the socio-political catastrophe of Egypt will affect the Middle East and its neighbours. Over 600 people supporters of ex-President Mohamed Morsi have been killed in police crackdowns since Wednesday.

Jemal said that a new generation came to power in the Muslim Brotherhood. It is harsher and more radical than the past authorities. The military helped young radicals. He noted that the military were driven by emotions and fear of failure. He reminded that 2,500 people were killed, 200,000 injured, a six-storey hospital was burned down. Some halls next to the mosque were filled with the injured and the dead.

The expert said that the military should have waited until their opponents ran out of money.

Jemal believes that the Muslim Brotherhood is turning into a forefront of political Islam. The organization used to focus on charity acts for the poorest people. It mobilized them into a political power.

Concerning the effects of the Egyptian disorders on the Caucasus, the expert sees no problems for the region. He reminded that Syria had many Caucasians, but that had not changed the situation in the Caucasus. However, it will change the balance of power in the Islamic world.
