New shipyard to open at Turkmenbashi in 2017

Gap İnşaat (Turkey) will build a shipyard at Turkmenbashi in 2017, Trend reports.

The facility will cover 143,000 square meters. It will receive 20,000 tons of steel a year to build cargo transportation vessels. The shipyard is expected to produce 4-6 large ships (up to 160m in length and with a water disposal of 7,000 tons) and repair 20-30 ships a year. 600 people will operate the facility.

Inros Lackner AG (Germany) is realizing the Turkmenbashi Port construction. It will be built according to the Green Port standard. It will serve 300,000 passengers and 75,000 trailers a year.

The port will link Central Asia and Caspian states with Trans-Caucasus and the Black Sea Region and then Turkey and Europe. Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attended the founding of the port yesterday. It will give access to China, India, Pakistan and the Asian-Pacific Region.
