Today the next stage of preparation for the indirect elections of the presidents of the republics of Dagestan and Ingushetia has been completed. As previously reported by Vestnik Kavkaza, Vladimir Putin proposed to the National Assemblies to elect the future heads of these subjects of the Russian Federation from three candidates. In Dagestan, the candidates are the interim President of the Republic, Ramazan Abdullatipov, the Chairman of the Accounting Chamber of Dagestan, Malik Bagley, and the Commissioner for Human Rights in Dagestan, Ummupazil Omarov. In Ingushetia, the candidates are the Acting Head of the republic, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, the chairman of the regional branch of the political party "Fair Russia", Uruskhan Evloev, and a deputy of the city council of Nazran, Magomed Tatriev.

Experts commented on the choices of Vladimir Putin, and what is to be expected from the elections in Dagestan and Ingushetia. Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Nationalities Gadzhimet Safaraliev explained that the candidates in Dagestan have been selected primarily along party lines. "They (Bagley and Omarov) are representatives of other parties. "Fair Russia" put forward Bagliev after he became the chairman of the Chamber and became a minister. Ummupazil was responsible for human rights. Basically, these are well-knownpeople," Safaraliev said.

A member of the Presidential Council on International Relations, the journalist Maxim Shevchenko, said that while Yunus-Bek Yevkurov is the clear leader in the top three candidates for president of Ingushetia, all the rest are very decent people and are not simply formal figures.
