Armenia claims it will have finished developing a new military-industrial establishment program by 2011.
Speaking at an interdepartmental defence commission on the 10th of August, the Secretary of the Council of National Security, Artur Bagdasarian, noted that the challenges their country faces show the need for a powerful military-industrial establishment. He said that, given time, it could become one of the leading branches of the economy and be exported.
The Secretary added that he considers cooperation with friendly countries to be of great importance, especially countries of the former USSR, and that closer contacts are being developed with Russia and Belarus.
