UN secretary general calls for peaceful solution for Syria
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaUN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon urged world leaders at the G20 summit in Saint Petersburg to show responsibility for solution of the Syrian problem and expressed hope that the UNSC members would fulfill their obligations for Syria, RIA Novosti reports.
Ki-moon called for a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis. He said that shipments of weapons to any sides of the Syrian conflict were unacceptable. The secretary general believes that the Geneva-2 talks for Syria should be organized as soon as possible and reminded that the agreements reached in June 2012 should be fulfilled..
He commented on the chemical attacks that had happened in Syria in late August, stating that resolution of the situation should be found within the framework of the UN Charter.
