Ramazan Abdulatipov elected president of Dagestan

Acting head of the Dagestani Republic Ramazan Abdulatipov was elected today as the new president of Dagestan by members of the local parliament.

86 out of 88 Dagestani lawmakers voted for Abdulatipov. Two members of the Dagestani parliament voted for the republic's ombudsperson Ummusalil Omarova. The third candidate, the Dagestani Labour Minister, received no votes.
