Automated environmental monitoring posts launched in Sochi

Two new automated posts to monitor the environment for atmospheric pollution have been launched in Sochi, Yuga.ru reports, citing the Russian Ministry of Nature.


The posts will be located in the zone of construction of the Olympic park in the Imeretin lowlands and were launched by the Russian Hydrometeorological and Environmental Service. The posts will monitor levels of carbon gases, nitrogen dioxide, nitrogen oxide and sulphur dioxide.


There is one station and three automated posts for atmospheric pollution control. There are 5 monitoring posts operating in the zone of construction of Olympic facilities and Sochi.
