Saint Petersburg will bid to host UEFA EURO-2020

The Executive Committee of the Russian Football Union has approved Saint Petersburg as the candidate to host matches of the final of the UEFA EURO-2020 which will be organized in 13 European cities.

The city will be officially registered for the bid on September 20. It will bid to host three group matches and one quarter-final match. The city does not have a stadium to seat over 70,000 spectators and will not be able to host the semi-finals and final.

Bidding profiles need to be composed before April 25. UEFA will inspect the cities that filed bids in May-August 2014. The choice will be made in September 2014.
