Police officer wounded in Dagestan

A police officer was shot today in downtown Makhachkala, the capital of the Russian North Caucasian republic of Dagestan, the republic's interior ministry says in a statement on Saturday.

The incident occurred at around 2.30 p.m. Moscow time. The officer was immediately hospitalized. His life is not in danger at the moment, RIA Novosti reports.
