Experts discuss Kashagan deposit

Vestnik Kavakza discussed Kazakhstan's newly-unveiled Kashagan oil and gas deposit with Russian and Azerbaijani oil analysts Vyacheslav Kulagin and Seymur Aliyev.

According to Kulagin, the project may be profitable for Russia, because the deliveries may be organized via Russian territory. There are, however, other options as well, he says.

He also notes that the final decision concerning the route will be political as well as economic.

Azerbaijan is also interested in the project, several shareholders of Kashagan also have shares in the Baku-Tbilisi-Jeyhan project, Seymur Aliyev says.

The project may be used for transportation of the oil produced at the Kashagan deposit. Such an option is being discussed, Seymur Aliyev notes.
