US secretary of state calls regime of Syria’s Assad illegitimate

US Secretary of State John Kerry said that the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had lost legitimacy and urged the Syria to switch to a temporary government, Trend reports.

Kerry noted that the US, Russia and France had agreed to pass sanctions against the Syrian regime, unless Damascus fulfilled the UN resolutions. He added that military intervention would be possible, should peace talks fail.

On September 14, Russia and the US spoke for political solutions of the conflict, non-intervention and shipment of chemical weapons from Syria or their destruction in mid-2014. A resolution of the UNSC will be composed to use force against Syria if it refuses to fulfill demands.

The West accuses the Syrian regime of mass use of chemical weapons on August 21.
