Azerbaijan to calculate economic damage of Nakhchivan

The Azerbaijani working group for calculation of damage on occupied territories of Azerbaijan have started analyzing the economic losses of Nakhchivan under chairmanship of Professor Khanguseyn Kyazymly, a member of the Azerbaijani parliament, Trend reports.

Ground communications between Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomy were disrupted by the Armenian forces in the 1990s. Blockade of the autonomy causes economic losses worth hundreds of millions of manats every year.

Restoration of the railway could increase freighting 2-3-fold. The working group stated that the economic and cultural life of the Nakhchivan Autonomy had suffered for over 20 years.
