Azerbaijani representative to the UN Agshin Mehdiyev has sent a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. The letter expresses protest over declarations made by the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic on August 15-30, 2013, Trend reports.

The Azerbaijani letter says that Nagorno-Karabakh and seven districts were occupied by Armenia. The document reminds that resolutions 822 (1993), 853 (1993), 874 (1993) and 884 (1993) confirm that Armenia used force against Azerbaijan and recognize occupation of the territory. Mehdiyev demanded immediate withdrawal of Armenian forces from the area.

Mehdiyev said in the letter that the European Court of Human Rights had not recognized the separatist state.
