Georgia expects higher prices for bread in September

According to the association of grain farmers of Georgia, David Giligashvili, prices for bread will rise in September, 24 saati.ge reports.

He said that the decision of the Russian government to reduce wheat exports will affect Georgia, but prices in August will be stable because of Georgia's own supplies.

Georgian Minister of Agriculture Bakur Kvezereli confirmed the information. The Russian decision will affect the entire region.

From August 15th to December 31st Georgia will not be able to import grain from Russia. Russian Premier Vladimir Putin made this decision due to the massive fires and complicated situation in the country.

One bag of flour had a price of 33 lari in Georgia. Today it costs between 35 and 37 lari ($1 = 1.8 lari).
