Georgia's electoral commission finishes registration of presidential candidates

Georgia's Central Electoral Commission finished the official registration of presidential elections today. 23 candidates were registered by the body, 13 of them independent. The commission rejected 31 potential candidates.

The major competitors are David Bakradze from the pro-presidential United National Movement, Giorgi Margvelashvili from the ruling Georgian Dream coalition, Nino Burjanadze from the Democratic Movement - United Georgia party, Shalva Natelashvili from the Labour Party, and Giorgi Targamadze from the Christian and Democratic Movement party.

Presidential elections are scheduled to be held in Georgia on 27 October 2013.
