Georgian president pardons 18 thousand criminals

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has pardoned some 18 thousand people, who had earlier received suspended sentences, News-Georgia reports.

According to the head of the presidential staff, the president signed a corresponding document on Wednesday. 

The initiative was timed to coincide with the Christian holiday of the Transfiguration.
