Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari will visit Turkey by the end of October to discuss bilateral cooperation issues, the Syrian crisis, economic and regional problems, Trend reports.
Iraq and Turkey have had tense relations for over a year. Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said that Turkey was turning into an enemy of all the states in the region by attempting to dominate it and interfere in the home affairs of other states. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Iraq should solve its own problems before accusing others of hostility.

The tensions are aggravated by Turkey’s hydrocarbon cooperation with the Kurdish Autonomy of Iraq.

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said earlier that Ankara considered Iraq’s attempts at political rapprochement unconvincing.
