Azerbaijani president thanks nation for votes

According to 72% of ballot papers processed in Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev got 84.73% of the vote. Aliyev thanked the people for their votes and characterized the elections as democratic and transparent. He emphasized the respect for freedom of speech, press, politics, conscience and called Azerbaijan a center of multiculturalism.

Aliyev said that protection of people’s interests and power were the main condition for success in the past 10 years. The president predicts success in economic reforms, social politics, energy politics and foreign affairs.
