Azerbaijani elections free, fair - European Parliament MP

Christina Jugland, a member of the European Parliament, said that she had spent a day talking with voters, members of the electoral commission, oppositionist observers and members of international organizations. She noted that none of them had seen any violations at Azerbaijan's presidential polls.

The opposition is very weak in Azerbaijan, she states. The European official believes that there is no doubts about the victory of President Ilham Aliyev and members of the European Parliament and the Council of Europe share her opinion. The elections were free, fair and peaceful, she said.
