Georgian PM vows no political prosecution of Saakashvili

Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili said that President Mikheil Saakashvili will not be persecuted after the end of his presidential terms on October 27, Interfax reports.Ivanishvili reminded that ex-Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili, ex-Minister of Defense Bacho Akhalaya was in jail, ex-Minister of Defense David Kezerashvili had been caught in France, three criminal cases had been initiated against Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava.The PM ruled out plans to initiate a criminal case against Saakashvili over the death of Zurab Zhvania in 2006, but he noted that there were questions the president needed to answer.Ivanishvili admitted, however, that the crackdown on protesters on May 26, 2011, that left several people dead, was a good reason for the prosecution of Saakashvili.
