Ingush leader describes republic's prospects

Ingush Leader Yunus-Bek Yevkurov described the prospects of Ingushetia at a conference in Moscow today. He emphasized that no radical transformations will be seen in the near future, but socio-economic changes were very clear.Yevkurov emphasized that 50-60% of authorities in the republic had been replaced due to their low efficiency. New staff is ready to work on problems of ethnic relations.Regarding the economy, he said that the republic had 40 investment projects worth 25 billion rubles in total. Some of them have been realized by 40-60%, some by 90%. Special attention is paid to construction, including federal roads. 80% of expenses have been realized in Ingushetia. The republic produces 65-70% of its food.Yevkurov expressed disappointment about the grain harvest this year. Ingushetia has the second highest growth rate in Russia. It fulfills all its demand for potatoes, has good corn production. The republic has a project to build a garden of 50 hectares and another one of 200 hectares.The income of Ingushetia grows by at least 12% each year. Yevkurov expects the local GDP to reach 5 billion rubles a year. Special attention is paid to investment projects to keep the population employed. Small and medium-scale business is encouraged.The Ingush leader noted efforts to produce eco-friendly products, such as honey, herbs, fish skin. The latter has interested Italy.Concluding the talks, Yevkurov said that the Armkhi Skiing Resort was built in Ingushetia, contributing to tourism and giving the republic and the Caucasus a positive image.
