Sukhumi to host conference on Russian-Abkhaz common spiritual space

Sukhumi will host a round-table conference on Russian-Abkhaz common spiritual space today.

The talks will be attended by Sergey Mikheyev, Director General of the Center for Political Conjuncture, Mikhail Tyurenkov, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Kultura paper, Larisa Tsvizhba, a docent of the RSUH, Sokrat Jinjolia, Director of the Abkhaz branch of the Institute for Eurasian Studies, Rezo Katsiya, a plenipotentiary for religion of the Abkhaz Cabinet, Anri Jergeniya, a political and public figure, Mushni Lasuriya, a poet and Chairman of the Association of Abkhaz Writers, Soslan Salakaya, a senior scientist of the Abkhaz Institute for Humanitarian Studies, Candidate of History, Dmitry Shamba, a presidential representative to the parliament.

The experts will discuss historic origins of the unity of Russian and Abkhaz peoples, problems of modern churches of the young state, autocephaly forming in Abkhazia, prospects for overcoming the schism and efforts to strengthen socio-cultural ties.
