Bacho Akhalaia gets nearly four years of imprisonment
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe Tbilisi City Court sentenced today the former defense minister and former head of the Department of Corrections of Georgia, Bacho Akhalaia to 3 years and 9 months in prison. He was found guilty in the case about a prison riot in 2006.
The riot, which took place in two prisons on the night of March 27 was brutally suppressed. According to official data, seven prisoners died and 22 were hospitalized as a result of the operation.
Bacho Akhalaia is being charged with two more criminal cases, at the moment they are under investigation.
