Moscow expects to have friendly relations with Tbilisi
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaToday, Russia congratulated the Georgian people on the free and fair elections, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Lavrov said that the development of Russian-Georgian relations will depend on the Georgian authorities.
Commenting on the issue of forming the new government, Lavrov wished the Georgian people "to complete all the arrangements to form the new government as soon as possible." "Let us hope that these authorities will pursue the policy of friendly, neighborly relations, taking into account the current realities of this complex region," Lavrov said.
"The same applies to the question of the possibility of restoring diplomatic relations. We were not the ones who broke them, and we will expect statements from the Georgian side about what line of politics they are going to follow in respect of our state," Lavrov said.
