Abkhaz court arrests in absentia suspect in murder of Russian diplomat

Sukhumi city court has arrested in absentia Yusup Lakaev.

A native of Grozny, Yusup Lakaev has been accused of the premeditated murder of the first secretary of the Embassy of Russia in Abkhazia, Dmitry Vishernev, and his wife Olga, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of Abkhazia told reporters today.

Yusup Lakaev has also been charged with the illegal manufacture, possession and carrying of explosive devices, as well as crossing the state border between Abkhazia and Georgia at the Inguri River.
