International jazz festival in Baku leaves profound impression on visitors and participants
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe International Jazz Festival has ended in Baku. The annual festival was organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan and lasted from October 23 to November 4.
This year's festival was marked by the participation of a large number of international jazz artists. Baku welcomed such famous stars as two-time Grammy nominee Joshua Redman, winner of the same award, American jazz musician Kenny Garrett, Marcus Miller, Bob James and many others. The festival was also attended by several well-known Azerbaijani musicians - Salman Qambarov, Emil Afrasiyab, Mirjavad Jafarov as well as talented young musicians.
"The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has done a tremendous managerial job, having invited to the festival so many world stars," the rector of the Baku Music Academy, Professor Farhad Badalbeyli told Vestnik Kavkaza.
He noted that the repertoire of the festival was diverse: in addition to the classic jazz, the audience had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with domestic jazz.
