Andrey Baklanov: “Geneva-2 is a conference for those who are ready to peaceful talks”

Andrey Baklanov, the aide of the vice-speaker of Russia's Federation Council, described the current situation in Syria ahead of the international peacemaking conference on Syria, Geneva-2. Another round of consultations between Russian, the U.S., and the UN on preparation of the conference ended in failure on November 5th: they didn’t manage to bring the conflicting sides to the negotiating table. The reason for this is that opponents of the Syrian government are not ready for peacemaking talks without preliminary conditions. The conference will take place no earlier than December.
