Russia introduces resolution project against Nazism
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaRussia introduced a resolution project to prevent glorification of Nazism yesterday. About 40 states, including Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Syria, were the co-authors of the document. Voting for the document is expected at the end of 2013, ITAR-TASS reports.
Russian Deputy Representative to the UN Grigory Lukyantsev presented the text of the document at the third committee of the UN General Assembly. He noted that there were attempts to falsify history and pervert justice in 1945. The Russian envoy wants the General Assembly to pay special attention to modern cases of racism and nationalism that should be stopped by the international society.
Lukyantsev urged UN members to consider the document with account of the Universal Periodic Review of the UNCHR.
120 out of 193 countries voted against a similar resolution project in 2012. The US, Canada and the Marshall Islands voted against it, 57 countries, including Ukraine, abstained.
