Palestine interested in dragging out negotiations – expert
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaIsraeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu proposed a renewal of Palestinian-Israeli peace talks at a Knesset session organized for French Minister Francois Hollande today. He invited President of the Palestinian National Authority Mahmoud Abbas to visit Jerusalem and make a speech in parliament.
Netanyahu reminded that Jews had a history of 4,000 years and had the right to self-determination.Yevgeny Satanovsky, President of the Institute for the Middle East, told Vestnik Kavkaza that dragging out the conflict was good for Palestine because Palestinian leaders could continue sharing billions of dollars a year. Making peace with Israel would mean solving problems at their own cost.
The expert noted that there were some people who could not live without revolutions and mentioned such people as Castro, Mandela, Che Guevara and Yasser Arafat.
According to Satanovsky, there was no Palestinian side, it disintegrated in spring 1999. Nothing since mid-1999 has been legitimate from the Palestinian side, he emphasized.
The Palestinian-Israeli dialogue started under US mediation three and a half months ago ended when the Palestinian delegation resigned with the excuse that there was no progress and Israel was building settlements on Palestinian territories.
