Ivanishvili will have influence on Georgia's politics even after resignation, experts believe

The new prime minister of Georgia is going to be appointed soon. Bidzina Ivanishvili is expected to be replaced by former Interior Minister Irakli Garibashvili. Ivanishvili is planning to return to social work and business. Vestnik Kavkaza discussed the situation surrounding Ivanishvili's resignation with Petre Mamradze and David Berdzenishvili.

According to Mamradze, Ivanishvili will have a great influence on the country's politicl life even after his resignation. The reason is his popularity among the Georgian people and his enormous fortune.

The expert also says that it has always been clear that Ivanishvili would quit politics sometime. "He has always said that he didn't want to be a politician, this job is not for him," the expert stresses.

Berdzenishvili, who is the head of the Republican Party's faction in the Georgian Parliament, believes that Ivanishvili will not run Georgia after his resignation, because otherwise he simply wouldn't quit.

According to Berdzenishvili, it's Ivanishvili's team and the ruling coalition who will be in charge.
