Israel has trust neither in US nor in Iran

Israel is paying special attention to the ongoing Geneva talks on the Iranian nuclear crisis. Even though there are some unresolved issues, the Israeli leadership believes that an agreement will eventually be reached.

This means that Israel has lost this battle and the main question now is how to minimize the results of this defeat, Vestnik Kavkaza correspondent in Israel, Pyotr Lyukimson, cites a source in the Israeli government as saying.

According to the the head of Iran Department of the Israeli Strategic Issues Ministry, Sima Schein, there is practically no chance that a future agreement will include a provision according to which the sanctions will be immediately resumed if Iran violates the agreement. It's easy to lift the sanctions, but it's very hard to impose them, as such a move damages the interests of the business world.

Experts believe that Prime Minister Netanyahu's visit to Russia was also unsuccessful. The head of the Israeli cabinet didn't manage to persuade the Russian President to declare the Iranian nuclear programme a threat to mankind and to guarantee that Iran will have no nuclear weapons, Lyukimson reports.

In these circumstances, Israel cannot trust the United States. A high-ranking source has even said that US Secretary of State John Kerry "doesn't understand the situation surrounding the Iranian nuclear programme at all and doesn't know what he is talking about." This very rude statement isn't the first one concerning Secretary Kerry or President Obama.

Thus Israel has no other option than to enhance ties with monarchies of the Persian Gulf such as Saudi Arabia. These ties are very strong already, even though no one likes to underline it, Lyukimson concludes.
